Our collection of classical statues includes the torso of the Laocoon sculpture, made of antique patinated white plaster, suitable only for indoor use.
The sculptural group depicts Laocoon and his sons, portrayed in the famous episode described in the Aeneid, in which the Trojan priest Laocoon and his sons are attacked by sea serpents. The sculpture, 242 cm high, and preserved in the Pio-Clementino Museum of the Vatican Museums, is a Roman marble copy of a Hellenistic statue of the Rhodian school.
