RID 38 Amazon Statue h. cm. 100

In our collection of classical statues there is the reduction of the Amazon statue, made of antique patinated white resin, suitable only for indoor use.

The Amazon represented by Phidias has her right arm raised above her head and with her hand she grasps the upper end of a bow. Her left arm is stretched along her side and she holds a quiver. She is wearing a short chiton and a pair of sandals. Her left breast is uncovered. Today we can only admire Roman copies of the sculpture and the one in the best state of preservation is in the Capitoline Museums in Rome.
