LS 489 Statue of Apoxyomenos h. cm. 190 (Vatican Museums)
Reproduction of the statue depicting Apoxyomenos, present in the Vatican Museums, made of antique patinated white resin, suitable only for indoor placement.
The word Apoxyomenos comes from the Greek and means "he who cleanses himself". The sculpture depicts a young athlete in the act of cleaning himself with the strigil (a metal instrument used to clean the mixture of oil, dust and sweat present on the body after a race). The bronze sculpture is attributed to Lysippus. There are some copies, including the one in Pentelic marble preserved in the Pio Clementino Museum in the Vatican.
