LS 485 Ares Ludovisi - National Roman Museum - h. cm. 140
In our collection of classical statues there is the statue depicting Ares Ludovisi, kept at the National Roman Museum, made of antique patinated white resin, suitable only for indoor placement.
It is a Roman marble copy from the Antonine period (2nd century AD), of a Greek original depicting Ares from the 4th century BC attributable to Skopas or Lysippus. Ares is depicted as a young man, beardless and seated on his laid-down weapons, while Eros plays at his feet. The sculpture is kept in the Palazzo Altemps, which is one of the four branches of the National Roman Museum.
