LB 448 Vilhelmine Marie, Princess h. cm. 50
In our collection of plaster cast busts there is a reproduction of the bust depicting Princess Vilhelmine Marie, by the sculptor Thorvaldsen, made of antique patinated white resin, suitable only for indoor use.
Princess Vilhelmine Marie (1808-91) was the youngest daughter of Frederick VI. She has a medallion with the portrait of Prince Frederik (later Frederick VII) on a chain around her neck. They married in 1828 and divorced in 1837 due to disagreements. The Court then tried to persuade Thorvaldsen to alter the bust and remove the portrait, but he refused.
