The Aphrodite of Milo, better known as Venus de Milo, is one of the most famous Greek statues. It is made of Parian marble, over 2 meters tall, and is without the arms and the original base. It is dated around 130 BC and belongs to the Hellenistic period. It is kept at the Louvre Museum in Paris. It is believed that the work was made by the sculptor Alexander of Antioch, although in the past it was erroneously attributed to Praxiteles.
